Fried and burned

Jeez managed to burn myself in the sun. So I decided to ask the sun goddess for some tips:

“For the burn use something called, or containing, Aloe Vera. Ours is made by Banana Boat. It soothes. If you cant find that, try a product called Noxema. It contains eucalyptus, also soothes. It is a face wash soap kinda creme. (vinegar in a bath helps too) If I were you and you are out in the sun, heck yes I’d use sunblock. Everyone burns and you don’t want to get melanoma… but any exposure, no matter what color skin you have is NOT good… just because they can’t SEE sunburn , doesn’t mean it hasn’t damaged their skin.”

And also added

“Vitamin E after the burn to heal your skin too :)

Thankyou :)

So hot!

Wow its so hot over here. Which is kind of rare. As with all good things, there is a downside. That would be the humidity. Very hot and sticky. Nevertheless I will not complain.

Learned a few php/mysql tricks. Hopefully will share soon.

Recently been out taking a few pics. Will post a few in the blog. Need to get the photo gallery up so I can upload when I wish.

Also need to get to grips with flash.

Recently bought a 300 gig hard disk to replace my current mp3 drive its no way near full yet but just wanted to use my current disk for the xbox. The new 300 gig disk I’ve not been able to use as its a SATA drive. I could have sworn I had a SATA card in my PC.

Decided to order the card and a new LAN boy case. Looks awesome but my real reason for buying it was because it has two large fans on it. Meaning better cooling and a quieter case. I’m hoping for bliss.

Rare error…

Heard a classic at work today. We get truckloads of stock arriving everyday. And the morning truck failed to arrive. So our management rang the people who book these trucks in. The response was:
“We’re really sorry. We’ve managed to make a rare error and have booked it in for this time next year.”

Another way of wording this would be “We fcuked up! big time”

Out fishing

Really didn’t feel up to working today. Such nice weather. Only the management team was in work so we decided to finish off early and fish in the river close by.

The water is remarkably clean. A lot of work has gone into restoring the canals and rivers around here and during warmer weather (the few days of the year) you can often see people fishing.

Not really into fishing I have to admit. But the manager who owns a boat most definitely is and was well up for it.

I wasn’t really digging holding the tub of live bait ;x and the thought of waiting around seemed boring. But results came by much quicker than I anticipated.

The first one which got caught was a real small baby fish. Which was let back into the water. Numerous other larger ones got caught but they managed to wriggle there way free off the hook as we were using barb free hooks, which are supposed to be “More to do with the sport of fishing”. Basically the hook doesn’t have teeth on them which rip and stay stuck in the fish’s mouth.

The larger fish we caught later were put to the side then later let back into the water.

Its only a small shallow river so the fish’s there aren’t all that big.

Was interesting to see it wasn’t many years back when the pollution in the water had nearly killed off all the wildlife in the rivers around here.

Basic CMS

Have been doing a lil bit of php work. Haven’t done much web work in a long time. Not sure why. Probably hasn’t been of interest to me for various reasons.

Anyway I’ve always wanted my own cms system. I attempted creating one originally for a site similar to this, but it proved too difficult and due to frustration I gave up.

I searched around high and low for something half decent which did what I wanted but nothing at the time really was that good. Since then there are some really good open source systems Mambo being a good one.

Whilst working on the cms I did learn quite a bit about keeping files in order. Something which any half decent web person can do but with a cms you need to have just a little bit of extra care.

Recently had a bit of web work thrown my way which required the user to easily update there site. I’ve managed to recycle my old cms files and have made good gains by hacking various scripts from the web and with the help of my php/mysql book ;-)

Not sure what it is with me but I have to be in the mood for doing what I’m doing otherwise there is no point.

Especially with the weather being good one can be out chasing women, rather than sat at a comp worrying about why mysql doesn’t want to play ball. Ya know its a huge dilemma ; )
