Colour me beautiful

The results are as follows, the standard original picture below left and the model after the digital makeover on the right.

A while ago I followed a Photoshop tutorial to smooth out skin on a photo image, you can check out the previous post photo-retouching-skin. My last attempt was pretty awful, poor girl looks like she has sunburn. So I had to have another try. Basically its a process which is not too dissimilar to the techniques used on photo’s for fashion ads and magazine layouts. Whereby certain parts of a photo are digitally modified or enhanced to make them appear more appealing to the target audience. Sometimes the modifications can be quite minor, they can also be pretty big with changes in shape to body parts, eyes, ears, nose basically once the image is digital there isn’t anything which cannot be modified and I’m fairly certain the average Joe isn’t quite aware of just how much every day images we see are modified in such a manner.

This time I followed this tutorial Mizuno’s Super Airbrush PP Tutorial which is a pretty darn kewl tut on airbrushing skin. I decided to use a different image for the tutorial and it is a stock image. Now I personally believe that both the woman in the tut and the image I have used did not need any PS help at all. Its just done for the sake of it and I’ll save my discussion on creating unrealistic beauty for a future post.

I did carry out a few extra processes on my version. One is the obvious St Tropez suntan (fake self tan lotion of course), the Dior eye liner and also the must have look for this fashion season, the hot rouge lipstick. For me its not a super polished end result maybe I’ll try a few others. Do remember regardless of whether beauty is on the inside or outside, beauty within fashion images is most definitely fake.

No need to discuss anything ; ) :
This Demonstration is pure madness ^^.
Doctor Y. , Amazing result you got there.
The tan effect is stunning. The makeup is lovely and hot.
Gives her sunny beauty a pure feline watch : )

    TuT >_maybe I’ll try a few others
    Oh yes, that I reckon : p

The way I see it is. You get a picture. A nice picture.
And with a masterpiece retouching, you give it another mood. Another Flavour.
As if the original one is pretty fresh spring,
and you turned it into an early glamourous evening summer ; )

Can’t take my eyes out of it ; )
Feel free to make some more : )

If only I could do that, everything I do has to be a square and use simple colours…

I need say that this fake stuff just isn’t really worth the bother, the question is who are these “modifications” appealing to? I mean it’s only really shallow women that would care all that much about red lips and tanned, flawless skin.

I’m sure most guys aren’t really thinking about those kinds of things at all…

Thank you Mademoiselle : ) your words are too kind. Summer is my season since the day I met her…

And Janus, if they weren’t worth the bother then why is nearly image we see have modifications which far exceed these.

I wouldn’t go as far as blaming the women I blame the people who market these images the product makers, who make a business out of making women feeling insecure about themselves unless they fit the ‘model’ look.

And I think you are very right about guys don’t really think of these type of things, not any guy worth knowing anyway.

Maybe I’m being a bit too hard though, but the question remains as to who these product makers themselves are? Are they industrious shallow women or opportunistic capitalists with no motive other than to flog their cheesy wares.

    Maybe both then.

Very impressive Yas. And this is a guy speaking who has years of experience working with Photoshop and in the media industry!

It’s true that all pictures you see in fashion magazines have been modified to make the models look more beautiful. It is the skill of the artworker/designer that can turn a young woman into a godness.

Well Janus the fashion industry is a good example. 10% fashion and 90% business. Its cleverly disguised but money talks in those circles.

Thank you Leaf, : ) and none of us know more than the Leaf. I heard even pictures posted on emagi have modifications done to them ^_^
