Last FM

I’ve been using an online music tracking service since March 2007. What it basically does is to monitor the music you listen to over a period of time. It has other uses too but this is one of the key things I use it for.

One of the features I like best is finding out which tracks or artists I’ve listen to most over a period of time. Last FM makes it easy to do this and track the last 7 days or even the past year or previous years and also provide a list of the overall most listened to.

You don’t have to tell the last FM site what music you are listening to but it tracks the music you are listening to via a small application known as an audio scrobbler. This works with iTunes, Windows Media Player and there are various other players out there which natively support scrobbling such as Songbird. When you finish listening to a track the scrobbler sends a message to Last FM site with the track name.

Obviously due to having to use the scrobbling app Last FM hasn’t managed to capture every single track I have listened to over the years, but mainly the ones from iTunes.

You can create your free account at http://www.lastfm.com

One other neat feature is you can make available your music listening habits to other websites to create fancy tag clouds one website which offers this is http://lastfm.dontdrinkandroot.net like the following

Most listened to albums

Music genres most listened to

Artists most listened to

Lovely Head

Gold Frapp – Lovely Head

It starts in my belly
Then up to my heart
Into my mouth, I can’t keep it shut
Do you recognise, the smell
Is that how you tell us apart

I fool myself to sleep and dream
Nobody’s here
No-one but me
So cool
You’re hardly there
Why can’t this, be killing you

Frankenstein would want your mind
Your lovely head
Your lovely head

Your lovely head

Puzzled by people

Love is the answer.

I’m pretty good at puzzles but puzzled by people
and I don’t trouble trouble and trouble don’t trouble me.
Stare at the paper, fold it in two
facing the walls are the soles of my shoes.

Sometimes you have to find out for yourself.
Sometimes you need to be told.
Sometimes you never find the answer.

We never had a crossword (crossed word)
My words got lost and you never heard
I’m 2 (too) down you’re one across the room
Beginning with I and ending in U
beginning in my eye and ending as an X
leaves a bad taste in my mouth
To think of you again like the bad taste leaking from the ink in my pen
doodle at the side as I do to life
choosing to lose time instead of doing what I like
Starts off black and white and lacking in life
until pen in blue lends it a hue.

Puzzled by people
loving isn’t easy
you can’t google the solutions to people’s feelings

Sometimes you have to find out for yourself.
Sometimes you need to be told.
Sometimes you never find the answer.

Chewing on the pen
2 down again
not enough letters for the clue in my head
Lost in thought, never been there before
with the turn of a pun on the tip of my tongue
the freshest memory will fail to recall
as well as the messiest, faded scrawl

Love is the answer.
[Repeat Pre-Chorus & Chorus]

You hit me once

You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to our bed

You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to our bed

My black eye casts no shadow
Your red eye sees nothing
Your slaps don’t stick
Your kicks don’t hit
So we remain the same
love sticks
sweat drips
break the lock if it don’t fit

A kick in the teeth is good for some
A kiss with a fist is better than none

A kiss with a fist is better than none

I broke your jaw once before
I spilled your blood upon the floor
You broke my leg in return
so let’s sit back and watch the bed burn
love sticks
sweat drips
break the lock if it don’t fit

A kick in the teeth is good for some
A kiss with a fist is better than none

A kiss with a fist is better than none

You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to our bed

You hit me once
I hit you back
You gave a kick
I gave a slap
You smashed a plate over my head
Then I set fire to our bed

How 2 b dead

Please don’t go crazy, if I tell you the truth
No you don’t know what happened
And you never will if
You don’t listen to me while I talk to the wall
This blanket is freezing, it’s been out in the hall
Where you’ve had me for hours
Till I’m sure what I want
But darling I want the same thing that I wanted before
So sweetheart tell me what’s up I won’t stop, no way

Please keep your hands down
And stop raising your voice
It’s hardly what I’d be doing if you gave me a choice
It’s a simple suggestion can you give me sometime
So just say yes or no
Why can’t you shoulder the blame
Coz both my shoulders are heavy
From the weight of us both
You’re a big boy now so let’s not talk about growth
You’ve not heard a single word I have said…
Oh, my God

Please take it easy it can’t all be my fault
I haven’t made half the mistakes
That you’ve listed so far
Oh baby let me explain something
It’s all down to drugs
At least I remember taking them and not a lot else
It seems I’ve stepped over lines
You’ve drawn again and again
But if the ecstacy’s in the wit is definitely out
Dr. Jekyll is wrestling Hyde for my pride
